Genesis

In the beginning…

Those words hold much promise, don’t they?  Today, they are holding hopes and dreams for me.  The biggest promise is that it’s going to be WAY outside my comfort zone.

I am a fairly private person.  Several years ago, I ventured into the world of blogging by writing a travel blog. I wanted to remember the things my husband and I saw when we went places, and I really enjoyed doing it.  I didn’t trust putting myself out there, and I thought I could get into the least amount of trouble by only writing when we went away.

I’ve had a hard time keeping it up though, not so much for lack of time or travel, but for lack of interest.  It dissolved somewhat in 2010, when our family experienced the deaths of two members–my nephew Jessi and my sister-in-law Joyce.  One death was expected, one was not. Regardless, both scarred me.Montana skies

There have been a lot of things to adjust to since then.  I changed jobs and then retired. To fill my days, I wrote a book and started a small freelance business. I began to focus more on healthy living and on nurturing relationships with people who encourage me to be my best self.

Without question, one of the most rewarding things was to support my dear friend Nancy Rue, particularly in the work she does with tween and teen girls. In the process, some of the young women and I have become the 21st century version of pen pals.  I have learned so much from them, and I’ve realized that I too have a voice.

Genesis means the formation of something new. This is my new place and I want to share it with you.  Sure, I’ll still post about the places I go, but there’ll be more.  I’ll ask some of my teen friends to write guest posts, and I’ll write from my heart.  I’ll share news from author friends, and comment on my life in general.  We’ll see where it goes from there.

Join me, won’t you?

love Crystal
