Look what comes out today!

Last fall, I had so much fun announcing the Writing news Today, I’m delighted to announce another.

Time to ThriveMy essay “Along Came a Spider” is included in Chicken Soup for the Soul–Time to Thrive, which comes out May 5th. It’s not lost on me that my beloved owls were used in the illustrations. My story talks about the unexpected risk I took to leave my old life behind in order to find the one I didn’t think I deserved.

From the back cover–“It’s your time to thrive with these 101 inspiring stories about growth, wisdom and dreams! It’s your time to thrive–and these stories show you how. You’ll learn how to take charge of your life, make time for what’s important, and do what’s right for you. These stories, from regular people (like me!) who have taken control of their lives, show you how to do it yourself.”

Several Canadians have contributed to this edition. Ryan Kluftinger wrote about being a Man of Letters. Lucy Lemay Cellucci lives in my city, and may even have made my latte once or twice. She writes about lessons learned while working at the local coffee shop. John Forrest recounts a wonderful tale about playing Trivial Pursuit, and I already know I’d lose to him. Michelle Hauser contributes a frank look at how home isn’t always the place we want to be (and I hope she writes the book she mentioned). There may be other Canadian contributors who, like me, didn’t mention that in the little bio blurb.

It’s a wonderful collection of thought-provoking stories. Hope you’ll pick one up soon. Leave a note in the comments about your favorite stories.

  1. I am so pleased for you. Just as a side note- I have throughly enjoyed your bird pictures. I’ll be sure to pick up a copy of this new Chicken Soup book.

    1. Thank you Linda. The birds are my every day gift from God. I so enjoy watching them. This month has been all about the woodpeckers.

    1. Thank you Anne. How kind you are! It’s wonderful to be able to celebrate with friends.

  2. Congrats, Crystal. You are one of the most spiritually intentional authors I know — and I know a lot of ’em! Nancy Rue

    1. Thank you Nancy. I am pretty sure it’s because of your mentorship as much as anything!
