The Envelope in the Tree

DSCN4952Recently,  I read about the envelope in the tree. I’d never heard of this tradition before, but I love it. For a family with kids, this is a wonderful way to encourage them to think about others in the midst of opening gifts. And for someone like me without kids, I’m sure I can find some in the vicinity to adopt for this purpose.

Here’s a sneak peak…

There are few blessings that can compare to that of seeing an example you’ve tried to set repeated by one of your children.

Our envelope in the tree tradition came back to me in an unexpected way, with rich and wonderful blessings.

  1. What a great tradition! It is great to set an example for children to be charitable at Christmas and throughout the year. I don’t have children but have made donations to charities on behalf of my nieces and nephews.

    1. I agree, and I’ve done as you have for exactly the same reason. But now I think maybe I should adopt this and give them more of a chance to participate.
