Words that resonate–Mike Dellosso

Thought for the day: I tell my patients often that the body’s healing process–the process by which tissues knit and mend–takes about six weeks. There’s nothing we can do to hurry that up but there’s a lot we can do to slow it down. And we slow it down by trying to hurry it up. We pick at scabs, push through pain, use joints that need to rest . . . thinking we’re hurrying the process up but in reality we’re only slowing it down. We need to learn to get out of the body’s way and let it do it’s thing. We need to learn to work with the healing process instead of against it.

Isn’t God the same way? He does things in His timing, at His pace. There’s nothing we can do to hurry up His will. But there’s a lot we can do to slow it down. And we slow it down by trying to hurry it up. We take matters into our own hands, call our own shots, improvise, push, manipulate. All the while thinking we’re hurrying things along but in reality we’re only slowing them down. We need to learn to get out of God’s way and let Him work. We need to learn to work with God rather than against him.

  1. How much did I need THIS today?! Both physically and spiritually. Thank you, Crystal, for always finding just the right words for us.
